James calls for Cambourne-Cambridge light rail link

James in Cambourne

Last week Conservative Mayoral candidate for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, James Palmer, visited Cambourne to meet local residents and to support local council candidate, Ruth Betson with her campaign.

During the visit James called for Cambourne to be connected to Cambridge City via a light rail link. Currently a bus ticket between Cambourne and Cambridge costs £6.80.

Commenting following the visit, James said:

"The bus service between Cambourne and Cambridge is not good enough. It's ludicrous that the journey can often take over an hour and costs as much as it does.

"If I'm elected next month I will be determined to secure a light rail link between Cambourne and Cambridge. My visit today and conversations with residents clearly demonstrates that it's not just the north of the county that needs significant investment into transport infrastructure."
